UAE gives Grade 11 and 12 pupils more choice with AI electives

## Curriculum Update

The UAE Ministry of Education has revised the curriculum for Grade 11 and 12 students, incorporating new elective options in artificial intelligence, arts, and health sciences. This change aims to equip students with skills relevant to future careers.

## Core Subjects

All students will continue to study six mandatory subjects: Arabic, Islamic Education, Social Studies and Moral Education, English, Mathematics, and Physical and Health Education. These subjects will be taught across both general and advanced academic streams, with Mathematics receiving the most instructional time.

## Elective Choices

In addition to the core subjects, students can choose from electives in AI and technology, arts, or health sciences. The number of elective periods varies depending on the student's academic stream and whether their school offers a third language.

## Educational Goals

The updated framework is designed to balance national curriculum requirements with preparation for higher education. It allows students to explore areas of personal interest while maintaining a strong academic foundation. The inclusion of AI and technology electives reflects a focus on emerging fields and future skills.
