Dubai International Holy Quran Award 2026 offers $1 million top prizes

## Record Participation

The 29th Dubai International Holy Quran Award has attracted a record 20,500 applications from 135 countries, marking the highest global participation in its history. The event, scheduled for 2026, has seen significant interest from countries like Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Syria.

## Expanded Application Process

This edition has introduced a new application process, allowing direct submissions alongside traditional nominations through home countries or accredited Islamic centers. These changes are part of a development program initiated during the previous edition, aimed at enhancing categories, eligibility, and evaluation procedures.

## Significant Prize Fund

The award offers a prize fund exceeding Dh 12 million, with first-place winners in both the over-16 male category and the under-16 male and female category each receiving $1 million. Second and third-place winners will receive $100,000 and $50,000, respectively. Additionally, the Global Quranic Personality will also be awarded $1 million.

## Finalists to Lead Taraweeh Prayers

During Ramadan, selected finalists will lead Taraweeh prayers at major mosques in Dubai. Public voting will determine the "Most Beautiful Quran Recitation in the World," scheduled for February 2027.

## Historical Context

Since its inception, the Dubai International Holy Quran Award has hosted 28 editions, with over 7,800 contestants from 123 countries participating. More than Dh 67 million has been awarded in prizes, and the event has recognized 24 individuals and three institutions with its Global Quranic Personality Award.
