## King Harald V's Health Update

King Harald V of Norway, Europe's oldest reigning monarch, has been hospitalized in Oslo. The 89-year-old king was admitted to Rikshospitalet following a medical examination that revealed fluid retention, a side effect of his treatment for a blood disorder.

## Temporary Changes in Royal Duties

During King Harald's two-week sick leave, Crown Prince Haakon will assume the role of regent. The Royal Palace has indicated that further details on how this will impact the royal family's schedule will be provided later.

## Previous Health Challenges

King Harald has experienced several health issues in recent years. In 2024, he had a pacemaker fitted after falling ill in Malaysia. Despite these challenges, he has consistently dismissed the idea of abdicating the throne.
