## Crackdown on Illegal Waste Disposal
Dubai Municipality has intensified efforts to curb illegal wastewater dumping by impounding tankers and imposing hefty fines on operators. This initiative aims to protect the city's environment and public spaces.
## Significant Penalties Imposed
Under Resolution No. (14) of 2015, which governs public cleanliness, the municipality has fined operators Dh100,000 for each violation. The resolution prohibits the disposal of wastewater in unauthorized areas, and violators face vehicle seizure in addition to fines.
## Enforcement and Awareness
To raise awareness and deter future violations, the municipality released footage of tankers being caught and towed. This is part of a broader strategy to prevent illegal dumping, which poses risks to public health and the environment.
## Broader Penalty Framework
The resolution also addresses other related violations. For instance, wastewater leakage from buildings incurs a Dh10,000 fine, while improper disposal from concrete trucks results in a Dh50,000 penalty. Disposing of used oils improperly is fined at Dh3,000.
## Commitment to Cleanliness
Dubai Municipality emphasizes a zero-tolerance policy towards such violations, ensuring ongoing enforcement to maintain the city's reputation as a clean and well-regulated global hub.
