## Major Finds at Tell Abu Seifi
Archaeologists in Egypt have made significant discoveries at Tell Abu Seifi, located in the Ismailia province. The site, part of the ancient Horus military route, has revealed a large mud-brick wall, ancient roads, and an inscription linked to King Ramses II. These findings provide new insights into the historical role of this route in defending Egypt's eastern frontier.
## Discoveries and Historical Significance
The excavation uncovered the outer wall of a sanctuary surrounding a temple from the ancient city of Mesen. This includes gateways, internal chambers, and layers of construction. Two stone roads were also found, one from the Ptolemaic period and another narrower Roman road built later.
A notable find is a massive sandstone lintel, inscribed with Ramses II's titles and a text about restoration work on a statue of Horus. Other artifacts include a schist statue of an army scribe from Egypt's 26th Dynasty, a headless and footless statue from the Late Period, and fragments of falcon statues.
## Evolution of the Site
The site has undergone various phases of development. During the Ptolemaic period, the temple reached its architectural peak. Later, parts of the site were repurposed for a Roman military barracks in the third century AD. In the late Roman period, it became a center for lime production, evidenced by two large kilns found on-site.
These discoveries highlight Tell Abu Seifi's importance as a strategic location along the Horus military route, serving military, religious, and economic functions over centuries.
