The player was caught texting his girlfriend from the dugout, which is against the BCCI's Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) regulations.

## Investigation Details

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) has chosen not to disclose the player's identity as the investigation is still ongoing. However, it is known that he is a left-handed batsman who performed notably in the previous year's Ranji Trophy.

## Protocol Breach

The PMOA protocol strictly prohibits mobile phone use in certain areas during matches. While team managers can use phones in the dressing room, players and most staff must turn off and surrender their devices upon arrival. Only the designated analyst is allowed to use a computer for match data.

## Consideration of Penalties

Initially, the TNCA considered imposing a two-year ban on the 26-year-old player. However, they opted for a financial penalty instead, as the breach was not deemed severe enough to warrant a lengthy suspension.
