## Profit Decline in First Half of 2026

Air Arabia, the UAE's budget airline, reported a significant drop in net profit for the first half of 2026. The profit fell by 51% to Dh374 million, primarily due to the ongoing regional conflict and increased fuel prices. The airline's revenue also saw a slight decrease, reaching Dh3.48 billion compared to Dh3.52 billion in the same period last year.

## Impact on Passenger Numbers and Operations

The conflict has led to a 14% reduction in passenger numbers, with Air Arabia carrying over 8.7 million passengers in the first half of the year. Despite this decline, the airline maintained a seat load factor of 83%, indicating strong demand. The conflict has caused airspace closures and operational restrictions, further impacting the airline's capacity.

## Industry-Wide Challenges

The challenges faced by Air Arabia are not isolated. Other airlines, such as Austrian Airlines and Pegasus Airlines, have also reported losses due to the conflict and rising fuel costs. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts a shift from a $7.2 billion profit in 2025 to a $4.3 billion loss for Middle Eastern airlines in 2026.

## Second Quarter Results

In the second quarter alone, Air Arabia's net profit dropped by 77% to Dh96 million, with a 3% decline in revenue. The airline carried 3.9 million passengers during this period, a 23% decrease from the previous year.

## Fleet Expansion and Future Outlook

Despite the challenges, Air Arabia expanded its fleet by adding six new aircraft, bringing the total to 96. The airline also launched five new routes across its hubs in the UAE, Morocco, Egypt, and Pakistan. Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani emphasized the airline's resilience and commitment to maintaining network connectivity and operational efficiency.
