## Foggy Conditions Expected in March
The UAE is anticipating a significant number of foggy days in March, with forecasts suggesting up to 20 days of reduced visibility. This period is expected to be the peak for fog formation in the region.
## Meteorological Warnings
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued alerts for potential fog over the coming days. Visibility could drop drastically, sometimes to near zero, especially in internal areas. Motorists are advised to stay informed through official channels.
## Factors Contributing to Fog
High humidity levels, often exceeding 85%, are common from early October to mid-March. Fog typically forms when humidity in the lower atmosphere surpasses 90%, usually during late night and early morning as temperatures fall. Desert and coastal areas are more susceptible to fog, while strong winds can prevent its formation.
## Safety Measures for Motorists
Fog can severely reduce visibility, posing risks on the roads. Abu Dhabi Police have implemented reduced speed limits on major highways, advising drivers to keep speeds below 80 km/h during foggy conditions. Drivers are also urged to maintain safe distances and avoid using high-beam headlights, which can worsen visibility by reflecting off the fog.
