UAE gold prices retreat from August high, giving buyers some relief

## Gold Prices in UAE See Decline

Gold prices in the UAE have decreased slightly, providing some relief to buyers after reaching high levels earlier in August. As of Thursday morning, the price of 24-karat gold fell to Dh529.75 per gram, a decrease of Dh3.50 from the previous day. Similarly, 22-karat gold dropped by Dh3.25 to Dh490.75 per gram.

## Price Trends and Market Dynamics

Despite the recent dip, gold prices remain significantly higher than at the start of the month. On August 1, 24-karat gold was priced at Dh487.25 per gram, indicating a rise of Dh42.50. The 22-karat variety also saw an increase of Dh39.50 from its early August price of Dh451.25.

The initial days of August saw a softening in prices, with 24-karat gold dropping to Dh485.50 on August 3. However, prices began to climb steadily, surpassing Dh500 by August 6 and reaching Dh533.25 on August 12.

## International Gold Market

Globally, gold prices have been influenced by recent US economic data. Softer inflation figures have eased pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates, allowing gold to maintain a position near $4,400 an ounce. This international trend has also contributed to the dynamics in the UAE market.

## Broader Economic Context

While geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have not seen significant developments, they continue to play a role in the market. Oil prices are also on the rise, reflecting ongoing efforts to resolve regional conflicts. These factors, combined with central bank purchases, have supported gold prices above the $4,000 mark in recent weeks.
