## New Indictment Details
Nick Reiner, son of director Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, has been formally indicted by a grand jury on charges of murdering his parents. The indictment, confirmed on August 12, includes allegations of lying in wait, multiple murders, and the use of a knife as a deadly weapon. Reiner, 32, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
## Background of the Case
The tragic incident occurred on December 14, when Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood home. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner reported that both died from multiple sharp force injuries. Nick Reiner was arrested on the same day, and formal charges were filed two days later.
## Legal Proceedings
The case has seen significant developments since December. A grand jury returned an indictment on July 20, adding the lying-in-wait allegation. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman described the case as a "profound betrayal" and emphasized the importance of the indictment in moving towards a trial.
## Financial Dispute
In addition to the criminal case, Nick Reiner is involved in a legal battle over access to his family trust. He claims he has been denied funds he was entitled to at age 30, which he needs for legal expenses and basic necessities. This financial dispute is set for a hearing later this month, while the murder case will return to court in September.
