## ETIAS Launch Postponed

UAE residents planning trips to Europe will experience a delay in the implementation of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). Initially set to launch in 2026, the European Union has postponed the start date, leaving the system currently non-operational. This means that for now, UAE travellers who are eligible for visa-free entry to the Schengen area do not need to apply for ETIAS.

## Current Travel Requirements

For those planning European holidays or business trips, existing entry rules remain unchanged. Visa-exempt travellers can continue to visit participating countries without the new authorisation. Those who require a Schengen visa must still apply for one as ETIAS will not replace the current visa system.

## Future Application Process

Once operational, ETIAS will require eligible travellers to apply online before visiting 30 European countries, including popular destinations like France, Germany, and Italy. The application fee is expected to be €20, and the authorisation will be valid for three years or until the passport expires.

## Monitoring Updates

Travellers should stay informed about the EU's announcement of a new ETIAS start date. Until then, those with visa-free access can continue their travels without additional requirements, while those needing a Schengen visa should follow the usual application process.
