Saudi Arabia bans poultry and egg imports from 40 countries to safeguard public health

## Import Ban Details

Saudi Arabia has implemented a ban on poultry and egg imports from 40 countries to protect public health. This decision, made by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, is part of efforts to ensure food safety within the kingdom.

## Countries Affected

The ban affects countries including Afghanistan, Germany, Indonesia, and the UK, among others. Additionally, partial restrictions are in place for specific regions in 16 other countries, such as the United States and Australia.

## Health and Safety Measures

The authority stated that the list of banned countries is regularly reviewed based on global health updates and disease outbreaks, particularly avian influenza. Some bans have been in place since 2004, while others have been added over time.

## Exceptions to the Ban

The ban does not apply to heat-treated poultry products, provided they meet health standards and are certified as free from avian diseases. These products must come from approved facilities in the exporting countries.
