From 15 minutes to four: New Dubai roads making journeys dramatically faster

## Major Road Improvements

Dubai has unveiled several road projects aimed at reducing travel times across the city. These initiatives, spearheaded by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), have already made a significant impact on daily commutes.

## Hessa Street Expansion

The expansion of Hessa Street, completed in April 2026, has been a major success. The project widened the road and bridges at key intersections, doubling its capacity to handle 16,000 vehicles per hour. This has reduced travel time from 15 minutes to just four.

## Dubai Harbour Bridge

The Dubai Harbour Bridge, completed in July 2026, has also contributed to easing traffic. This 1,500-meter bridge accommodates 6,000 vehicles per hour, cutting travel time from 12 minutes to three.

## Other Key Projects

The Commercial Centre Roundabout and Al Qudra Street projects have further improved traffic flow. The former reduced travel time from eight minutes to two, while the latter is expected to cut waiting times by 85% upon full completion.

## Future Developments

Upcoming projects include the completion of the Oud Metha Road and Al Asayel Street improvements, expected to reduce travel time by 75%. The Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is another significant undertaking, aiming to cut journey times from 104 minutes to 16 by 2030.
