## Significant Increase in Remittances
Pakistan experienced a notable increase in remittances, reaching $3.6 billion in July 2026. This marks a 13% rise compared to the same month last year and a 4.5% increase from June 2026, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.
## Key Contributors
Saudi Arabia and the UAE were the largest contributors, together accounting for over $1.65 billion, or approximately 46% of the total remittances. Saudi Arabia alone contributed $913.9 million, while the UAE provided $737.3 million. Other significant sources included the UK with $555.5 million and the US with $317.2 million.
## Government and Economic Insights
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the increase, highlighting the crucial role of overseas Pakistanis in supporting the national economy. Economist Dr. Khaqan Najeeb emphasized the importance of these inflows, especially given Pakistan's weak export performance. He noted that the growth in remittances underscores the lack of sufficient job creation within the country, leading more Pakistanis to seek employment abroad.
## Future Outlook
Topline Research anticipates that Pakistan's remittances could reach $40.1 billion for the 2026-27 financial year. This trend reflects the ongoing reliance on foreign exchange to manage the country's balance of payments, despite challenges in domestic job creation.
