## Incident Overview
An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi encountered severe turbulence on August 4, leading to a sudden altitude drop of about 300 feet. Despite the turbulence, the aircraft managed to stabilize and land safely in Delhi.
## Passenger Concerns
Passengers have raised concerns regarding the pilot's condition during the flight. Shrikant Jha, a passenger, noted that the pilot's behavior and appearance seemed unusual, prompting suspicions of intoxication. Jha reported these concerns to airport authorities, requesting medical tests for the pilot.
## Injuries and Reactions
Renu Raniwala, another passenger, described the panic during the turbulence, especially among those with children. She recounted injuries sustained while securing her grandson and mentioned a child being thrown during the incident. Passengers reportedly faced delays in receiving medical assistance after landing.
## Investigation Underway
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is investigating the incident, classified as a Serious Incident by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Initial screenings of the pilot indicated the need for further testing, with results pending. The flight carried 137 passengers, including infants, and eight crew members, with several injuries reported.
