## Navigating Airport Procedures
Filipino workers returning to the UAE have shared their experiences with the OFW Pass and the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) at airports. Despite the introduction of the OFW Pass in 2023 as a digital alternative, many travelers report being asked for a printed OEC during airport processing.
## The OFW Pass
The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) launched the OFW Pass to simplify travel for overseas workers. Unlike the OEC, which requires processing and is valid for 60 days, the OFW Pass can be obtained through mobile apps and remains valid until the worker's contract ends.
## Mixed Experiences
Jeane Adriano, a health and safety manager, faced challenges at Clark International Airport. Despite having an OFW Pass, she was required to obtain a printed OEC, leading to multiple trips to the DMW kiosk. Similarly, Ressie Pineda, traveling through Ninoy Aquino International Airport, needed an OEC for a travel tax refund.
## Smooth Departures
Not all travelers faced issues. Paulo Lagunay Jr., a food and beverage supervisor, used the traditional OEC without problems. An immigration officer at NAIA confirmed that both the OEC and OFW Pass are currently accepted.
## Recommendations for OFWs
To avoid complications, OFWs are advised to ensure their DMW accounts are accessible and to have both digital and printed documents ready when traveling. The transition to the digital system is ongoing, and having both options available can help ensure a smoother airport experience.
