'Our children are suffering': Sri Lankan mother in UAE appeals for help as debt crisis and legal troubles tear family apart

## Family's Struggles

Raziya Razick, a Sri Lankan expatriate in the UAE, is appealing for help as her family faces severe financial and legal challenges. After losing her job last year, Razick's family has been struggling with mounting debts and legal issues. Her husband, Mohamed Waseem Ubaidulla, is detained due to a bounced cheque case from 2019, and Razick is unable to leave the country because of an unpaid loan.

## Impact on Children

The couple's three children, aged three, seven, and fifteen, are unable to attend school due to the family's financial difficulties. Razick expresses deep concern over the emotional toll on her children, who miss their father and are affected by the uncertainty surrounding their future.

## Financial Burden

Razick has requested the Dubai Court to allow her to pay off Dh56,236 in legal fees and penalties in installments. However, without a steady income, even the initial payment is beyond their reach. The family's financial woes began with Razick's job loss, followed by her husband's inability to secure a work visa due to legal complications.

## Risk of Eviction

The family is also at risk of eviction from their home in Al Muhaisnah, having fallen behind on rent payments. They are considering returning to Sri Lanka to be closer to family, as staying in the UAE becomes increasingly difficult.

## A Call for Assistance

Razick is reaching out in hopes of finding support from charitable organizations or legal aid to help settle their debts and legal issues. She emphasizes her desire for a chance to work and provide a stable future for her children, rather than seeking sympathy.
