Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s wife Sangeetha withdraws divorce petition

## Divorce Petition Withdrawn

Sangeetha, the wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, has withdrawn her divorce petition, ending the legal proceedings in the Chengalpattu Family Court. She appeared via video conference to inform the court of her decision, which was accepted by Judge Sujatha.

## Allegations of Infidelity

The divorce petition, filed earlier this year, included allegations of Vijay's involvement in an extramarital affair with an actress. Sangeetha claimed she discovered this in April 2021, leading to emotional distress. However, these allegations have not been confirmed by a court, and Vijay has not publicly addressed them.

## Political Implications

The case drew significant attention due to Vijay's political status as the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and his role as Tamil Nadu's chief minister since the 2026 Assembly election. The proceedings also raised questions about Vijay's election affidavit, particularly a declaration of a Rs12.60 crore loan to Sangeetha. A related petition was dismissed by the Madras High Court in April.

## Future Possibilities

The court has allowed Sangeetha the option to file a new petition in the future if necessary. Vijay and Sangeetha, who married in 1999, have two children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.
