## Historic Olympic Journey
Piera Hudson made history as one of the first athletes to represent the UAE at the Winter Olympics, participating in the 2026 Milano Cortina Games. Alongside 19-year-old Alex Astridge, Hudson competed in alpine skiing events, marking a significant milestone for UAE sports.
## Overcoming Challenges
Hudson shared her journey on social media, revealing the challenges she faced leading up to the Olympics. After suffering a serious knee injury, she underwent multiple surgeries and intense rehabilitation to prepare for the Games. Despite these hurdles, she remained determined to compete.
## Performance at the Games
Hudson participated in two events: the women's giant slalom and slalom. In the giant slalom, she completed the first run but did not finish the second, affecting her final standing. However, she successfully completed both runs in the slalom, finishing 39th overall with a combined time of 1:49.67.
## Mixed Emotions
While proud to represent her country, Hudson expressed disappointment with her performance, feeling she did not ski to her full potential. Despite this, she remains proud of her perseverance and the journey that brought her back to the Olympic stage.
