## Arrests in Muscat
Authorities in Oman have detained several expatriate women in Muscat for allegedly breaching public decency laws. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) reported that the women, hailing from African and Asian countries, were apprehended for wearing clothing considered inappropriate and for violating labor and residency regulations.
## Legal Proceedings
The arrests were executed by the Muscat Governorate Police Command, and legal actions are currently underway. However, the police have not disclosed the exact number of women involved or detailed the specific nature of the offenses.
## Legal Framework
Under Oman's Penal Code, appearing in public in a manner deemed offensive to public decency can result in imprisonment for one to three months, fines ranging from 100 to 300 Omani rials, or both. The law also empowers citizens to report any suspected violations to the authorities.
