Egg prices have been a significant issue, particularly during the 2024 presidential campaign, as they soared due to avian flu outbreaks that led to the culling of millions of birds. At one point, a dozen eggs in New York City cost an average of $8.47.

New York will receive nearly 5 million eggs, with the first delivery already made in Brooklyn. Other states benefiting from the settlement include Arizona, California, and Texas, among others. Deliveries are scheduled to continue through October.
