Dubai traffic nears normal in June, with recovery gaining pace in Q2: Salik CEO

## Traffic Levels Approach Normalcy

Dubai's traffic flow through Salik toll gates showed significant recovery in the second quarter of 2026. After a slowdown due to regional events earlier in the year, traffic volumes in June nearly returned to normal levels.

## Financial Performance

Despite the traffic recovery, Salik's financial results for the first half of 2026 showed a decline. The company's net profit before tax fell by 8.7% to Dh773.6 million compared to the previous year. The second quarter alone saw a 16.4% drop in profit before tax, reaching Dh367.9 million. However, the company maintained a strong net profit margin of 49.9%.

## Revenue and Trips

Salik's revenue for the first half of the year was Dh1.41 billion, a 7.5% decrease from the previous year. The number of journeys through Salik toll gates also declined by 9.5% to 383.8 million. Chargeable trips fell by 12.5% to 278.5 million, with peak and off-peak trips charged at different rates.

## Additional Revenue Streams

Salik has expanded its revenue sources beyond tolls. The company reported a 98% increase in ancillary revenue, reaching Dh17.2 million, due to partnerships for parking payments at key locations like Dubai International Airport and Dubai Mall. Salik is also exploring electric vehicle charging and fuel payment services.

## Future Prospects

Salik's CEO, Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, highlighted the company's disciplined operating model, which has allowed it to maintain profitability and generate healthy cash flow despite the challenges. The number of active Salik accounts grew by 6.6% to 2.9 million, indicating continued customer confidence.
