Beyond the sun: Meet the rain-chasers tracking the UAE’s summer storms

## Following the UAE Weatherman

In the UAE, a unique group of weather enthusiasts known as rain chasers gather to track summer storms. Led by Muhammed Sajjad KP, a civil engineer turned self-taught meteorologist, these individuals follow his precise forecasts of local cloud formations. Sajjad, popularly known as the UAE Weatherman, has cultivated a community that eagerly responds to his weather predictions.

## A Family Affair

For many, like Hameed Ali and his wife Aneesa, chasing rain is a family tradition. The couple, originally from Kerala, have been participating in these pursuits since 2020, often traveling from Ajman with their children. Their passion for rain even takes them across borders into Oman.

## A Community of Chasers

Imtiaz Ahmad Gondal, a Pakistani expat, has been part of this community for five years. He recently joined the convoy from Sharjah with his children, making it a priority on their itinerary. Similarly, Mohammad Ali Tatul, a Bangladeshi expat, coordinated his day around Sajjad's forecast, demonstrating the trust and commitment these followers have in the UAE Weatherman's predictions.

## The Thrill of the Chase

These rain chasers are not deterred by the UAE's scorching temperatures, which can reach up to 50°C. Instead, they embrace the opportunity to escape the heat and experience the rare summer downpours, making it a memorable adventure for families and friends alike.
