## Traffic Improvements on Latifa bint Hamdan Street
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully reduced peak-hour traffic congestion by 30% on Latifa bint Hamdan Street. This achievement follows the introduction of a new traffic lane and two U-turns designed to alleviate bottlenecks on this busy road.
## Key Upgrades
The enhancements include an additional lane along two sections of the street's service road, covering a total of 1 kilometer. The first section extends from the Al Asayel Street intersection to Street 44, while the second runs from the National Cement Factory to the First Al Khail Street exit. Additionally, two new U-turns have been constructed beneath the Latifa bint Hamdan Street and Al Asayel Street intersection.
## Strategic Traffic Solutions
These upgrades are part of RTA's strategy to implement quick and targeted solutions at congestion hotspots. By using traffic studies and advanced technologies, the RTA aims to improve road capacity and operational efficiency to support Dubai's growing population and urban expansion.
## Increased Road Capacity
The service road's capacity has increased from 600 to 1,000 vehicles per hour, significantly enhancing traffic flow. The newly built U-turns have also helped reduce vehicle queues and congestion during peak times.
## Importance of Latifa bint Hamdan Street
Latifa bint Hamdan Street is a crucial east-west corridor that serves residential, commercial, and industrial areas. It connects with major roads such as Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street, making it a vital route for thousands of daily commuters.
## Future Developments
These recent improvements are part of a broader investment in upgrading the corridor. Earlier this year, a AED2 billion contract was awarded for the Latifa bint Hamdan Street Development Project, which aims to transform the road into a major strategic corridor linking Sheikh Zayed Road with Emirates Road. The project includes the construction of seven bridges and eight tunnels to further improve traffic flow and road network efficiency in Dubai.
