Drivers can now complete the mandatory vision test at any RTA-approved optical center, ophthalmology clinic, or participating driving institute. The test results are sent electronically to the RTA, reducing paperwork and wait times. Typically, the eye test takes between five to ten minutes.

## Rising Demand

In the first half of 2026, the RTA recorded 854,213 electronically submitted eye test transactions, reflecting an increase in demand compared to 2025.

## Digital Integration

The expanded network and digital integration allow many drivers to complete their eye test and driving licence renewal in one visit. Renewed licences can be received electronically and added to a digital wallet, eliminating the need for a physical copy unless requested.
