From strawberries to aircraft parts: UK exports on Emirates SkyCargo grow

## Surge in UK Exports

Emirates SkyCargo has reported a significant increase in UK exports, with over 57,000 tonnes transported during the 2025-26 financial year. This marks an 11% rise compared to the previous year, driven by heightened demand for British food, pharmaceuticals, and aerospace components.

## Diverse Cargo

The airline's cargo division has been pivotal in connecting UK businesses to global markets through its Dubai hub. Products ranging from Scottish shellfish and strawberries to aircraft parts and life-saving medicines have been shipped from eight UK airports to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australasia.

## Aerospace and Pharmaceuticals Lead

The aerospace sector has been a major contributor, with over 570 tonnes of aircraft parts shipped in the first half of 2026. Demand for the airline's specialized Aerospace and Engineering product grew by more than 300% year-on-year. Pharmaceuticals also saw robust growth, with over 1,600 tonnes exported, including clinical trial medications.

## Fresh Produce Exports

Food exports have also been substantial, with over 1,500 tonnes of Scottish shellfish and 1,200 tonnes of smoked salmon transported. The airline's Emirates Fresh service has facilitated the export of 250 tonnes of strawberries and 150 tonnes of cheese to the UAE.

## Broader Economic Ties

The increase in cargo volumes coincides with strengthening economic ties between the UAE and the UK. Bilateral trade now exceeds $30 billion annually, supported by more than 14,000 UK exporters engaging with the UAE market. The UAE's commitment to open trade has bolstered its position as a competitive business environment.
