Saudi Arabia deports more than 12,600 expatriates in one week

## Nationwide Crackdown on Illegal Residency

Saudi Arabia has deported more than 12,600 expatriates in a week-long campaign targeting violations of residency, labor, and border laws. This operation, conducted from July 23 to July 29, resulted in over 14,000 arrests.

## Arrests and Violations

The Ministry of Interior reported that 7,103 individuals were detained for residency violations, 3,397 for labor law breaches, and 3,654 for border security offenses. Additionally, 1,418 people were caught attempting to enter the country illegally, while 23 were arrested for trying to exit unlawfully.

## Legal Consequences

Authorities also detained 17 individuals accused of facilitating illegal activities, such as transporting or sheltering violators. The ministry emphasized severe penalties for those aiding illegal entry or residence, including up to 15 years in prison, fines reaching SR1 million ($266,600), and confiscation of vehicles and property.

## Ongoing Legal Procedures

Currently, 30,679 individuals are undergoing legal procedures. Among them, 17,903 are awaiting travel documents from their diplomatic missions, and 5,424 are finalizing travel arrangements for departure.
