## Tunnel Boring Machine in Action

Dubai's ambitious Metro Blue Line project is making significant progress with the help of a massive tunnel boring machine named Al Wugeisha. This 2,000-tonne machine is currently excavating beneath International City, working at depths of up to 35 meters. As it digs through the earth, it simultaneously installs concrete segments to form the tunnel structure.

## Milestones Achieved

Since the start of tunneling operations in May, Al Wugeisha has successfully completed approximately 1.2 kilometers of the route. The machine advances at a rate of 13 to 17 meters daily, with peak performance reaching up to 30 meters in a single day.

## Future Plans for the Blue Line

The Blue Line is set to cover a total distance of 30 kilometers and will feature 14 stations, including five underground. This new addition to Dubai's metro network is expected to open in 2029, enhancing connectivity across key residential and commercial areas. The project aims to alleviate road congestion and support Dubai's vision for sustainable urban mobility.
