World champions South Africa announce eight home Tests for 2026/27

## South Africa's Upcoming Test Matches

South Africa, the reigning World Test Champions, has announced a schedule of eight home Test matches for the 2026/27 season. This marks a return to home Test cricket for the Proteas, who did not host any Test matches in the 2025/26 season.

## Series Details

The upcoming season will feature three Test matches against Australia, two against Bangladesh, and three against England. These matches will contribute to the 2025-2027 World Test Championship standings. Currently, South Africa is in third place, having recently drawn a series in Pakistan and secured a victory in India.

## Match Venues and Dates

The series against Australia will be held at coastal venues, starting in Durban on October 3, followed by matches in Gqeberha and Cape Town. Bangladesh will play their Tests in Johannesburg and Centurion in November. The England series will take place over December and January, with matches in Johannesburg, Centurion, and Cape Town.

## Additional Series

In addition to the Test matches, each visiting team will participate in a three-match one-day international series. Bangladesh will also play three T20 internationals. However, England's T20 series has been postponed due to scheduling conflicts with the SA20 franchise competition.

## Strategic Importance

Cricket South Africa's chief executive, Pholetsi Moseki, emphasized the importance of these series for maintaining momentum in the World Test Championship and preparing for the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which South Africa will host.
