## Continued Support for OFWs
The Philippine government has reiterated its commitment to supporting overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of protecting Filipinos abroad during his State of the Nation Address on July 27.
## Assistance and Repatriation Efforts
Since the conflict began, over 12,000 Filipinos have been safely repatriated. Additionally, more than 140,000 OFWs who remain in the region have received emergency assistance, including food, financial aid, medical care, and temporary shelter.
## Support for Repatriated Workers
The government has implemented programs to assist repatriated workers in rebuilding their lives. These include livelihood grants and job placement services through various government agencies. Returning teachers are being deployed to public schools to address local shortages.
## Ensuring Safety Abroad
The safety of Filipinos working overseas remains a priority. The government is coordinating with partner countries to protect workers, especially in high-risk areas like the Strait of Hormuz. Despite some casualties and missing workers, efforts continue to ensure their safety.
## Ongoing Commitment
President Marcos assured that support for OFWs will persist as long as the conflict affects them. The Middle East remains a significant destination for Filipino workers, making the situation closely monitored by the government and families back home.
