When in Manila: This app lets you track trains — LRT and MRT — in real time

## Introducing TrainSight

A new app called TrainSight, developed by Filipino engineer RJ Crusem, is set to revolutionize commuting in Metro Manila. This innovative platform provides real-time tracking for the city's Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) systems.

## Addressing Commuter Challenges

Crusem, a resident of Cavite, created TrainSight to tackle the common issue of uncertainty faced by commuters waiting for trains. The app aims to give passengers accurate information about train locations and movements, helping them plan their journeys more effectively.

## How It Works

TrainSight gathers data from various sources, including user devices and hardware trackers installed on trains, to deliver precise updates. This approach is inspired by similar tracking systems used in aviation, such as FlightRadar24.

## Enhancing Rail Operations

Beyond aiding commuters, TrainSight also offers benefits for rail operators by enabling them to monitor train movements in real time. This capability could lead to quicker responses to technical issues and improved service reliability.

## Future Plans

Currently supporting LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3, TrainSight is ready to include the upcoming MRT-7 line. Crusem's team is collaborating with government agencies to ensure a smooth rollout. There are also plans to extend tracking to road-based public transport in the future.

## Availability

TrainSight is expected to launch on the Google Play Store in August, with an Apple App Store release anticipated between September and October.
