Dubai expands e-bike delivery with seven new locations

## Expansion of E-Bike Delivery Service

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has extended its e-bike delivery service to seven additional areas in the emirate. This follows a successful pilot program initiated in February. The new locations include Al Twar 1, Al Twar 2, Al Qusais 1, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and Dubai Marina. These areas join the initial four: Al Karama, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair, and Al Mankhool.

## Goals and Strategies

The expansion aligns with Dubai's Commercial and Logistics Land Transport Strategy 2030 and the First and Last-Mile Strategy. The initiative aims to enhance delivery sustainability, improve road safety, reduce costs, and provide efficient services. The RTA has established clear regulations for delivery operations, licensing, and safety standards to ensure smooth and safe service.

## Selection Criteria and Partnerships

The newly added areas were selected based on factors such as existing cycling infrastructure, neighborhood characteristics, and business demand. The expansion is being implemented in collaboration with private-sector partners, with agreements outlining operational procedures and safety standards.

## Positive Trial Results

The trial phase showed promising results, with customer satisfaction reaching approximately 99% and over 90% of delivery riders expressing satisfaction. The RTA has worked with partners to address operational challenges before extending the program. A comprehensive framework has been developed to regulate the growing delivery sector, ensuring better governance and higher service standards.
